Terms of service
Acceptance
By using this site or placing an order, you agree to these terms.
About the District
Oakland Conservation District is a local unit of government organized under Michigan’s Conservation District Law, Act 463 of 1998, serving Oakland County. The District is not a regulatory agency. It does not issue permits, levy fines, or enforce rules.
Orders and pickup
District sales are pre-order. You order in advance, the District assembles your order, and you pick it up at the announced location and date.
The District does not ship. Everything is picked up in person. If you cannot come yourself, arrange for someone else to pick up on your behalf.
Orders not picked up are not refunded. Unclaimed plant material is donated to local organizations for restoration and community projects rather than wasted. Full details are in the District’s Refund Policy.
Plant material
Plants are living things. The District delivers them in good condition and inspects them before handover, but cannot guarantee survival after pickup. Outcomes depend on planting, watering, soil, weather, and care, none of which the District controls. Inspect your order at pickup and raise any concerns before leaving.
Species availability depends on the District’s nursery suppliers. Occasionally a species fails at the nursery and becomes unavailable after ordering closes. When that happens the District notifies you and refunds the difference.
Pricing and errors
The District prices at or near cost to make conservation planting affordable. If a price, description, or availability is listed in error, the District reserves the right to correct it and to cancel and refund affected orders.
Programs and technical assistance
Educational programs, soil test interpretations, site visits, and technical recommendations are provided for informational purposes. They reflect the District’s best professional judgment and generally accepted conservation practice, but they are recommendations, not guarantees of any particular result. You are responsible for decisions made on your own property, including compliance with local ordinances, deed restrictions, and permitting requirements.
Referrals to partner agencies and programs are a convenience. The District does not control those organizations or their decisions.
Content you provide
If you send photographs or descriptions asking for identification or advice, you confirm you have the right to share them. The District may use anonymized examples in educational materials. If you would rather it did not, say so and it will not.
Site content
Content on this site belongs to Oakland Conservation District unless credited otherwise. Photographs credited to individual photographers are used under their stated licenses and remain the property of those photographers. You may share and link to District content for non-commercial educational purposes with attribution.
Accuracy
The District works to keep this site current, but program dates, prices, and availability change. Nothing on this site constitutes legal, financial, or regulatory advice.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by Michigan law, the District’s liability for any claim related to a purchase is limited to the amount paid.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan.
